2013 AfroBasket Groupings Released

The draw for this year's AfroBasket just ended in host city, Abidjan. The event scheduled for July will have the 16 qualified teams grouped as follows:

Group A
Ivory Coast
Egypt
Senegal
Algeria

Group B
Tunisia
Rwanda
Burkina Faso
Morocco

Group C
Angola
Central African Republic
Mozambique
Cape Verde

Group D
Nigeria
Cameroon
Congo-Brazzaville
Mali

Theophilus Mensah is a Ghanaian basketball documentarian who has followed the game in Ghana for close to a decade. He travels across the counrty documenting all aspects of basketball culture in Ghana. His work was recently featured in Roads and Kingdoms.

    Is Ghana not participating? Are we not that good at Basket Ball? Or we are supposed to be in Group C

      Each group is supposed to have four teams. Ghana didn't qualify.

    I believe the games are in August. Ghana is in ZONE 3 of FIBA Africa. Each team had to qualify. I believe that Ghana was invited to a qualification Tournament in Ouagadougou yet only Burkina and Togo were present.

    Joe is right. Ghana didn't qualify because we couldn't present a team for the qualifying tournament in Burkina Faso. The last time Ghana made an attempt at qualification was in the early 90's. We even hosted on '91 but failed to qualify.

    Okay Now I understand. Ghana has some fine B Ball talents. I wish we will be more serious about the game and present a team some other time. we never know where we could get to
