Cont. of Day 2
Game 1 Magic vs Fire (Group B)
Magic managed also managed to maintain their dominance over Fire from the regular season by beating them in a game continued this morning due to the rains yesterday. The game started on quite a rough note , with both teams playing aggressively and making some very avoidable mistakes probably due to the break in playing after the regular season. Dela who played good defense for Fire got 3 fouls early in the first quarter. Fire dominated the first 3 quarters leading 39-37 by the end of the 3rd. Ivan and Daniel Danso were also phenomenal for the Magic. Ivan taking a couple of 3's when needed most and Daniel keeping the ball on the floor, driving the lane and drawing fouls.Theophilus as usual did the trash jobs for the Magic
Game 2 C.Y.O vs Holy Family (W) (Group B)
C.Y.O beat Holy Family in the second of the women's game this morning dominating them through all the four quarters.GUSA female MVP, Felicia's presence in the game played an important role in C.Y.O's victory
Game 3 Panthers vs Police (Group B)
Match of the day - Panthers won the regular season match up. Fair enough. But Police used more experience and composure and some extra cool performance by their captain to win their first match of this tourney. Kwame Boamah played good D as usual for the Sacksville Panthers, resulting in him getting 3 early fouls. Police' PG Kotey stole the show in the second quarter driving the lane and dishing out some dimes that got the fans at screaming (he grew up playing for Tudu based Magic). Police switched quickly to 1 on 1 defense to be able to hold the panters who were leading 20 - 10 as at the end of the second quarter. But Kwame , came back for Panthers after being forced to the bench because of his foul trouble. The Panthers' defense was revamped with his presence and he got the fans again with a two handed get away slam with seconds left for the second quarter to expire. Police captain, Simon, led his team to take over the game at the beginning of the third quarter but getting to the end of the third and early fourth quarter both teams got quite disorganized on the court. but Simon still played good knocking down two important treys to help his team stay in the game. Even though Panthers maintained their composure and still played good ball, Police continued their second half rally. Police got their first lead of the game at 46 - 45 early in the fourth. It was clear fatigue and inexperience had set in for the Panthers. Panthers literally killed themselves by missing too many free throws in the 4th and committing too many basic defensive blunders. Final score was 58 - 46 for Police.
